Travel search is often built around a city name. TIC8 begins one step earlier: with a sentence about the journey you want. Here is how that sentence becomes a shortlist you can inspect and refine.
First, your words become filters
A prompt such as “a quiet coastal escape with good food” contains several useful signals: coast, a slower pace and dining. “Forest walks and a mountain spa” suggests a different set. TIC8 identifies supported landscape and activity themes, then uses those themes to narrow the options.
When an OpenRouter model is connected, it can help extract those filters from natural language. The model is not asked to invent prices, hotels or flight availability. If that step is unavailable, a conservative local parser can still recognize common travel terms.
Next, the source is made visible
In demo mode, results come from a TIC8 catalogue and are labelled accordingly. In live mode, the system uses Geoapify’s place data to check named natural features near candidate destination areas. A live-provider failure is reported as a failure; it is not disguised as a live match.
Each card explains the matched themes and shows nearby places where available. Images are included to make exploration pleasant, with labels that distinguish illustrative imagery from credited third-party photography.
Finally, you make the call
A high match is a useful lead, not a guarantee that the whole trip is right. Review the location, travel season, flight route and stay options. Change your prompt if the shortlist is too broad, or add a country or activity when you know it matters.
Good discovery should help you ask better questions, not pretend every answer is final.
